About

Jonathan Cutrer

Full-stack developer, photographer, cyclist, and spatial data enthusiast based in Texas.

Background

I started on Linux when installing it meant a stack of floppy disks and a prayer — Slackware, if you're curious. That was a long time ago, but the instinct stuck: understand what's under the hood, own your tools, build things that work.

Today I write Python and TypeScript for a living. Backend APIs, data pipelines, internal tooling — the kind of work where getting it right matters more than getting it flashy. I deploy to Cloudflare, manage Linux servers, and try to leave codebases better than I found them.

What I'm Working On

  • Software engineering — Full-stack development, FastAPI, React, Next.js, and whatever the problem actually needs.
  • GIS & mapping — Drone surveys, spatial data pipelines, and turning raw coordinates into publishable maps.
  • Photography & video — Landscapes, cycling, and the kind of light that only shows up when you're already tired from the ride.
  • Cycling — 50+ miles a week on Texas roads. Training for a 3-day, 300-mile cross-desert ride.

This Site

This is a work in progress — I'm migrating years of writing from WordPress and rebuilding around work I'm actually proud of. Built with Astro, styled with Tailwind, hosted on Cloudflare Pages.
